<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous carbon membrane which is excellent in heat resistance, chemical resistance, weatherability, has a hydrophobic surface and is useful for a new nanofilter membrane or the like, and also to provide a method for production thereof. <P>SOLUTION: This porous carbon membrane having mesopores is characterized in: that the distribution of pore diameters measured by a gas adsorption method has a peak within the range of 2-50 nm; that 80% or more of total pore volume measured by the gas adsorption method belongs to the pore diameters ranging from 2 to 50 nm; or that the volume of pores having a diameter of 2-50 nm measured by the above method is three times or more that of pores having the diameters of ≤2 nm or ≥50 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
