OPTICAL BRANCHING AND INSERTING SWITCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical branching and inserting switch with a high extinction ratio and a small maximum power consumption.

SOLUTION: The optical branching and inserting switch includes: an optical switch 227 for outputting a signal light received from a through input port (ThrIn) through a cross path at an optional attenuation amount; a VOA 222 for outputting a signal light received from the optical switch 227 through a cross path at an optional attenuation; a VOA 223 for outputting a signal light received from an add port (Add) through a cross path at an optional attenuation; an optical switch 224 that selects a signal light received from the VOA 222 in a bar state, selects a signal light received from the VOA 223 in a cross state, and outputs the selected signal light to an output port (Out); and an optical drop unit 226 that outputs the signal light received from an input port (In) to a through output port (ThrOut) and a drop port (Drop) at an optional drop ratio.
