<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mud material for a waste melting furnace, wherein inclusion of the harmful matter into waste slag, storage water stored in a water tank or the like is reduced much less than before. <P>SOLUTION: A powdery refractory raw material compound consists of chemical components containing ≥80 mass% in total of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and SiO<SB>2</SB>and 0.3-3 mass% in total of Na<SB>2</SB>O and K<SB>2</SB>O and has a particle size, wherein the one having ≤0.045 mm particle diameter occupies 30-70 mass%, the one having >0.045 mm and ≤0.21 mm particle diameter occupies 5-30 mass%, the one having >0.21 mm and 3 mm particle diameter occupies 0-50 mass% and the one having >3 mm particle diameter occupies 0-10 mass%. The mud material for waste melting furnace is obtained by kneading 100 mass% the powdery refractory raw material compound with 13-25 mass% water in external addition.
