摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal device or the like having a non-multigap structure in which almost identical display characteristics (grayscale characteristics) can be obtained in transmissive display and reflective display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is a transflective liquid crystal device having a normally black display mode and having such a structure that one sub pixel region includes a transmissive region and a reflective region and that the cell gap is set equal in both regions. The liquid crystal device has independent pixel electrodes and TFD (thin film diode) elements connected to the electrodes in the respective transmissive regions and reflective regions. In particular, relative sizes (areas) of the TFD elements in the transmissive region and the reflective region are set to be different from each other, which results in the display characteristics (grayscale characteristics) corresponding in the reflective region being almost equal to the display characteristics (grayscale characteristics) corresponding to the transmissive region, and results in high-quality display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
