<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element etc., which composes light beams with a relatively simple structure by skillfully using differences of a wavelength of light and polarization. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element 50 has a dichroic surface part 50a made of a multi-layered dielectric film etc., and a polarization beam splitter surface part 50b made of a multi-layered dielectric film etc. The dichroic surface part 50a transmits light beams (G, R) of the green wavelength band to the red wavelength band irrelevantly to the polarization direction of light and reflects a light beam (B) of the blue wavelength band. The polarization beam splitter surface part 50b reflects an S-polarized light beam (Gs) of the green wavelength band. Further, the polarization beam splitter surface part 50b transmits an S-polarized light beam (Bs) and a P-polarized light beam (Bp) of the blue wavelength band and also transmits an S-polarized light beam (Rs) and a P-polarized light beam (Rp) of the red wavelength band. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
