PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identification method for a rotational drive force transmission mechanism that achieves reduction of manufacturing costs of the rotational drive force transmission mechanism by the identification of the mechanism with a simple method, and also, allows exertion of a permanent identification function. SOLUTION: One or more annular grooves are machined to the intermediate part on the outer peripheral face of a material for a drive shaft. Then, identification grooves 38 are formed by applying a coating film 36 to the annular grooves. One or more identification grooves 38 are formed on the outer peripheral face of the drive shaft 12 excluding parts covered with first/second constant velocity joints 14, 16 including a joint boot 30. It is possible to identify a rotational drive force transmission mechanism 10 as a specific rotational drive force transmission mechanism 10 by the discrimination with an annular level difference on the coating face.
