PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correcting the defective surface of a printing blanket which can bring about an acceptable printed matter of high-definition by enabling a defect of the surface of the blanket to be corrected after the manufacturing of the blanket. SOLUTION: This method for correcting the defective surface of the printing blanket A is characterized in that a non-planar defective part of the rubber surface of the printing blanket is corrected by being flattened by laser irradiation. The application of laser beams from laser light sources C1 and C2 is concentrated to the protrusive defective part of the rubber surface of the blanket A, so that the protrusive defective part can be decomposed, vaporized and flattened. After a proper quantity of liquid rubber is dropped to the recessed defective part of the rubber surface by a filler feeding means D, the liquid rubber dropped to the recessed defective part is dried and solidified, so that the irregular defective surface can be flattened and corrected.
