The method involves automatically collecting parameters that exist with respect to a patient examination in a digital form and automatically reading parameters by a protocol instance (PI). The read parameters are assigned to examination parameters of the respective patient examination. The parameters are recorded, as the read parameters in the protocol instance in relation to the respective examination parameters are stored in a buffer memory (P) according to configurable criteria. Another parameter is automatically read over a user interface. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for recording parameters during an operation of a medicine-technical device within a patient examination in a central protocol instance (2) a computer program product that is directly stored in a memory of a programmable control device of a medicine-technical device for executing a method of recording parameters.
