The rim has a hollow box structure (11) limited by a base, side walls (7,8) and an upper bridge. The method involves bending a profiled rod according to a ring. In a deformation phase, the wall of the box is subjected to a fluid under pressure which is injected into the box. The fluid is preferably injecting the fluid after making the ring of the rim into a closed form. An independent claim is included for a rim.
