A test pattern generating device for a display device is provided to enhance user convenience by enabling a user to visually observe a test pattern during a test process and enhancing portability and test efficiency. A test pattern generating device for a display device is coupled with the display device and provides plural test patterns. The test pattern generating device includes a selector(703), an oscillator(707), a controller(701), and a transmitter(709). The selector selects one of the test patterns. The oscillator generates a synchronous signal. The controller generates image data and provides one of the test patterns according to the selection of the selector. The transmitter transmits the signal from the controller to the display device. The controller is an FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) integrated circuit. The transmitter converts the signal according to an LVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signaling) scheme.
