A braille point recognition and conversion method in a mobile communication terminal and a system thereof are provided to allow the terminal to input braille points by photographing, thus the braille points are easily inputted while the inputted braille points can be converted into characters in various languages or be provided as voices. If a key is inputted(201), a controller confirms whether a terminal is in camera mode(203). If so, a camera takes a picture of a document made in braille type to output the document as digital braille image data(205). An image processor decodes the braille image data, and displays the decoded image data on a display(207). It is checked whether the decoded braille image data is designated for braille point recognition(209). If so, the controller recognizes braille points by referring to a braille point DB table(213), and decides whether the overall recognized braille points are to be converted into necessary languages(215). If so, the controller selects one of various languages(218), and converts braille points into characters by referring to a conversion table to display the characters on the display(219,221).
