<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spiro ortho ester and a dispiro ortho ester easily synthesized and producing a resin with slight problems caused by volume shrinkage during polymerization, to provide a method for synthesizing the same and to provide a polymer thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The spiro ortho ester is represented by general formula (I) (wherein, R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>represent each a hydrogen, an alkyl group or an aryl group, except that R<SB>1</SB>is a methyl group and R<SB>2</SB>is a phenyl group). The spiro ortho ester is represented by general formula (II) (wherein, R<SB>3</SB>represents a hydrogen, an alkyl group or an aryl group; and R<SB>4</SB>represents an alkylene or an arylene group).
