<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reproducing apparatus and method, and an optical pickup device in which a high transfer rate of information can be obtained. <P>SOLUTION: An output beam from a semiconductor laser 12 is switched to a condensed spot of an almost circular shape irradiating one information track or a condensed spot of an almost linear shape irradiating a plurality of information tracks by an optical element 14, so as to control irradiating output of the semiconductor laser 12 in accordance with a shape of the condensed spot. Then, reflected light in accordance with a shape of the condensed spot is received from an optical disk 11 by a light receiving element 28 divided in the direction corresponding to the condensed spot of almost linear shape, an error signal and/or a reproduced signal are generated based on this reflected light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
