<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management server, a document management method and a program. <P>SOLUTION: An access control list(ACL) showing the content of authority which can be operated by a user is set in an electronic folder or an electronic folder stored in a document management server 5. The document management server 5 receives an electronic file to be registered and place information for registering the electronic file and destination information including a notification destination user for notifying the user that the electronic file has been registered from a compound machine(MFP) 1. When any notification destination user is not registered in the ACL, the document management server 5 transmits the notification of registration and the electronic file to a PC 3 of the notification destination user. The document management server 5 receives the notification of the reception of the electronic file from the PC 3.
