<p>Disclosed is a lubricant for compression type refrigerating machine characterized by containing a polyvinyl ether compound which contains an alkylene glycol unit or a polyoxyalkylene glycol unit and a vinyl ether unit in a molecule, while having a molecular weight of 300-3,000. This lubricant for compression type refrigerating machine exhibits high compatibility in a natural refrigerant atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, while having a high viscosity index.</p>
