<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upgrade method capable of switching an optical amplifier relaying node into an OADM node in a short time, and to provide an optical node apparatus capable of attaining a consecutive communication service at a low initial introduction cost. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical node apparatus disclosed herein in the case of its operation as the optical amplifier relaying node, a preamplifier 11 amplifies a WDM signal light received at an input port IN and thereafter an optical distribution coupler 21 distributes the amplified light into first and second optical paths, an optical switch 22 selects the light propagated through the first optical path, a post amplifier 12 amplifies the selected light, and the amplified light is outputted from an output port OUT. In the case of upgrading the operating state as the optical amplifier relaying node into that of the OADM node, an OADM 50 is connected between connection ports P2, P4 on the second optical path, the OADM 50 is adjusted by utilizing the WDM signal light distributed by the optical distribution coupler 21, and thereafter the optical switch 22 is switched to select the second optical path. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
