摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight having a uniform in-plane distribution of luminous intensity while suppressing the cost. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a backlight having a plurality of LED elements 3 arrayed on a plane is carried out by using LED elements 3 classified into a plurality of ranks according to the luminous intensities, as well as by mounting LED elements classified into at least two different ranks on each small block segmented to have the same number of mounting positions of the LED elements 3, and employing the same combination of ranks of the LED elements 3 to be mounted in each small block. Otherwise, a center value of the luminous intensity in each rank of the LED element 3 is known, and the sum of center values of the luminous intensities in ranks of the LED elements 3 mounted in each small block is made almost uniform. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
