PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of controlling toner supply from a toner cartridge to a developing unit in real time. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes; a photoreceptor drum 11 on which an electrostatic latent image is to be formed; a rotary developing device 13 which has a plurality of developing rolls 131, 132, 133, and 134 for carrying a developer for developing the electrostatic latent image and successively moves the plurality of developing rolls 131, 132, 133, and 134 to a development position facing the photoreceptor drum 11 to switch development colors; a toner concentration sensor 32 which detects toner concentration of the developer which the developing roll 131 disposed in the development position out of the plurality of developing rolls 131 to 134 carries.
