PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an accurate white balance processing when a face is detected, without erroneously recognizing a human skin color in a high color temperature as white in a low color temperature. SOLUTION: An image apparatus is provided with a face detection mode, and when a face is detected, the face area and a body candidate area whose values of luminance information and color information are within predetermined ranges with respect to those values of the face area, are detected, and those areas are excluded from the acquiring area of the white balance evaluation values.
