PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure volume without impairing mass stability of a weight or without depending on its shape. SOLUTION: A method comprises: a step for housing the weight 10 whose volume has to be measured in a first sealed container 11 to tightly shut it with an air passage 13 obstructed; a step for sealing up a second sealed container 14 with air pressure therein changed; a step for throwing open the air passage to balance air pressure in the first sealed container with that in the second sealed container; and a step for finding the volume V of the weight by the Boyle's expression where the internal volume of the first and second sealed containers taken as V<SB>a</SB>and V<SB>b</SB>, the volume of an obstructed part in the air passage as V<SB>c</SB>, air pressure in the first and second sealed containers before balancing the air pressure as P<SB>a</SB>and P<SB>b</SB>, and air pressure in the first and second sealed containers after balancing the air pressure as P<SB>ab</SB>.
