The invention relates to a flotation device comprising an external receptacle which is intended to be solidly connected to the external surface of a vessel, cargo container or floating structure, such as to extend essentially inside said vessel, cargo container or floating structure, the open end thereof being oriented outward. The aforementioned external receptacle contains an internal receptacle, the open end of which is aligned with the open end of the external receptacle and which houses inflatable means and discharge means for discharging said inflatable means from the open end of the internal receptacle following the activation of the inventive flotation device.
