An LCD and a method for driving the same are provided to simultaneously improve the transmittance and the visibility while the aperture ratio of the LCD is raised, by favorably controlling voltages applied to first and second liquid crystal capacitors formed in one pixel. An LCD comprises a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels includes first and second liquid crystal capacitors(Clc1,Clc2), and first, second, and third storage capacitors(Cst1,Cst2,Cst3). The first storage capacitor has a first terminal connected to the second liquid crystal capacitor and a second terminal receiving a first storage electrode signal. The second storage capacitor has a first terminal connected to the second liquid crystal capacitor and a second terminal receiving a second storage electrode signal having the opposite phase to the first storage electrode signal. The third storage capacitor has a first terminal connected to the first liquid crystal capacitor and a second terminal receiving the first storage electrode signal or the second storage electrode signal.
