A bar (18) of the principal material and a disc (20) of the plating material, both having the same cross section, are placed in the receiver of an extrusion press, the disc being ahead of the bar in the direction of extrusion. They are then pressed through the opening (13) of the extrusion die (12), to form a plated profile (26). The bar is a lithium-containing aluminum alloy; the disc is pure aluminum or lithium-free aluminum. |
