A pump rotor apparatus comprises a drive shaft A having plural alternating arcuate surface sections 1 centred on axial centre Pa and flat surface sections 2. A rotor B has a mounting hole into which the drive shaft is inserted and which has arcuate inner sections 4 and flat surface inner sections 5 corresponding to the respective shaft arcuate and flat surface sections. Centres P4 of the arcuate inner sections are displaced with respect to a rotor axial centre Pb and radii Rb of the arcuate inner sections are larger than the radii Ra of the arcuate surface sections so that the rotor axial centre is between each arcuate inner section and a centre of the radius corresponding to each arcuate inner peripheral section. Provides a clearance between the surfaces to improve pressure release of fluid caught between rotor and shaft.
