A funnel for a slim type cathode ray tube is provided to prevent a concentration effect of stress by setting properly a length ratio of a long axis and a short axis of a yoke part. A funnel(30) for a slim type cathode ray tube includes a body part(31) and a yoke part(32) and forms an electron beam having a deflection angle of 120 degrees and more. In the yoke part, a length ratio of a long axis and a short axis is equal to or less than 100 percent at a position of 25 to 55 percent when a distance from a neck seal of the yoke part to the body part is 100 percent. In the yoke part, the length ratio of the long axis and the short axis is equal to or more than 100 percent at a position of 55 percent to 100 percent.
