<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decomposing methyl formate with which a high decomposition ratio of the methyl formate is provided and catalyst deactivation is prevented and to provide a method for cooling utilizing the decomposition reaction of the methyl formate and a coolant. <P>SOLUTION: The method for decomposing the methyl formate comprises decomposing the methyl formate in the presence of an anion exchange resin and a water adsorbing porous substance. The method for cooling comprises decomposing the methyl formate in the presence of the anion exchange resin and the water adsorbing porous substance. The coolant comprises an agent A composed of the methyl formate and the water adsorbing porous substance and an agent B composed of the anion exchange resin. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
