PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a varnish composition excellent in water repellency, staining resistance, frictional resistance, etc., by adding polytetrafluoroethylene particles to an ethylenically unsaturated monomer or oligomer. SOLUTION: The polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) particles used have a volume- mean particle diameter of 2-6 μm and are desirably ones at least 45 wt.% of which have a volume-mean particle diameter of 2-6 μm. The PTFE particles are added in an amount of 10-100 wt.%, based on the solid matter of the varnish composition. The varnish composition is curable by irradiation with ultraviolet rays or electron beams and consists essentially of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer or oligomer and optionally a photoinitiator, a resin, a sensitizer, an extender pigment and additives. At least one of the monomer or oligomer as the binder component is a (meth)acrylic ester such as ethylene glycol di(meth) acrylate. |
