A network search method of a mobile terminal is provided to prevent unnecessary power consumption in searching a network by shorten the time required for network searching in a mobile terminal using a DCXO(Digitally Controller Crystal Oscillator) which does not include a temperature compensation circuit. A mobile terminal, if a received code signal is a network search request, selects one on a list of channels(S201,S202). The mobile terminal selects an "afc(automatic frequency control)" value among the values stored in AFC_MODE(S203). In case no value is stored in AFC_MODE, the mobile terminal selects an "AFC_CENTER" value. The mobile terminal executes searching over 4 times until an FB(Frequency Burst) is detected(S204-S206). If the mobile terminal fails in FB searching, the mobile terminal outputs a search fail message and a channel change signal(S207,S208). Thus, the mobile terminal selects the next channel and repeats FB searching(S202-S206). Meanwhile, if an FB is detected within 4 times, the mobile terminal searches for a synchronization burst(S212). If a synchronization burst is detected, the mobile terminal reestablishes an AFC_MODE value according to the AFC value at the time when the synchronization burst was detected(S213). Then the mobile terminal enters into an idle state(S214). |
