METHOD FOR DISPLAYING MENU IN PORTABLE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL

A method for displaying a menu in a portable terminal is provided to enable a user to intuitively select the menu by outputting a vertical menu and outputting a horizontal menu in accordance with an icon selected in the vertical menu. A method for displaying a menu in a portable terminal comprises the following several steps. The portable terminal checks occurrence of a menu displaying event(300). If so, the portable terminal outputs a vertical menu and a horizontal menu(304), and checks whether selection of an icon is changed in the vertical menu(306). If the selection of an icon is changed in the vertical menu, the portable terminal outputs a horizontal menu included by a changed icon(308) and checks whether an icon is selected in the horizontal menu(310). If the icon is selected in the horizontal menu, the terminal checks whether there exists an assistant menu in accordance with selection(312). If the assistant menu exists, the terminal outputs the assistant menu(314) and checks whether an item is selected in an assistant menu list(316).
