NOVEL TETRAGENOCOCCUS KOREENSIS HAVING RHAMNOLIPID-PRODUCING ABILITY AND PRODUCING METHOD FOR RHAMNOLIPID USING THE SAME

A novel Tetragenococcus koreensis JS is provided to produce a biological surfactant rhamnolipid which is non-toxic and biologically decomposable, is able to maintain the emulsification stability even with the small amount thereof and shows low surface tension, thereby replacing chemically synthesized surfactant to be industrially used for textile industry, rubber and plastic industry, construction, food, medicine, cosmetic, metal and mining, pulp and paper manufacturing, and agricultural industry. The Tetragenococcus koreensis JS having rhamnolipid-producing capability is deposited as a deposition number of KCTC 3924. The method for preparing rhamnolipid comprises the steps of: (a) culturing the Tetragenococcus koreensis JS in aerobic or anaerobic condition; and (b) isolating a biological surfactant rhamnolipid from the culture solution obtained from the step(a).
