A method for controlling operation of a fan motor using current sensing is provided to judge an over-current state even when the value of motor current flowing along a fan motor is reduced, by varying a setting current value in accordance with the operating environment of the fan motor. A method for controlling operation of a fan motor using current sensing comprises a first step of initializing setting current values for each control condition when power is applied; a second step of checking an input duty of an ECU, and applied voltage and internal temperature, and operating a fan motor by applying setting current values; a third step of checking the setting current value and the value of motor current flowing along the fan motor; a fourth step of comparing the setting current value and the motor current value, judging as an over-current state if the motor current value is larger, updating the setting current value, and feeding back to the second step; and a fifth step of stopping the fan motor through over-current control if it is judged as an over-current state, and feeding back to the second step after elapse of a predetermined time. |
