PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely and quickly recognize a quadrangle for performing camera movement correction of a photographed image. SOLUTION: This image processing method is provided with a means 210 for detecting an edge area from an input image (photographed image); a means 220 for extracting segments corresponding to the detected edge area; a means 240 for selecting the combinations of segment pairs from the extracted plurality of segments, classifying respective segment pairs, according to the relative position of two segments composing the segment pair, and calculating the evaluation value of the segment pair; a means 250 for selecting two combinations of segment pairs from the plurality of segment pairs, generating a quadrangle from four segments of the respective two segment pairs, and calculating a quadrangle evaluation values, based on the classification and evaluation values of the segment pairs comprising the quadrangle; a means 260 for selecting a quadrangle, based on the calculated quadrangle evaluation values; and a means 270 for the input image by calculating a projection transformation matrix from the selected quadrangle.
