PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable hydrodynamic bearing unit capable of being compact, lightweight, and thin, a motor using the same hydrodynamic bearing unit, and a disk drive unit. SOLUTION: The hydrodynamic bearing unit comprises a shaft 10, a thrust flange 16, a sleeve 11, a seal plate 21, and a stop plate 20. A radial hydrodynamic bearing is formed in a gap in a radial direction between the shaft 10 and sleeve 11, and a thrust hydrodynamic bearing is formed in a gap in a thrust direction between the sleeve 11 and thrust flange 16. An interconnecting hole 11d for interconnecting a gap between the sleeve 11 and seal plate 21 and the gap in a thrust direction between the sleeve 11 and thrust flange 16 is formed. The radial hydrodynamic bearing, thrust hydrodynamic bearing, or both hydrodynamic bearings is or are formed so that a lubricant 9 in a gap between the sleeve 11 and seal plate 21 is circulated from an inner peripheral side to an outer peripheral side of the sleeve 11.
