PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device not requiring labor for mounting a paper tray by a user and further not damaging the paper tray by the user. SOLUTION: The recording device has the paper tray having a base end turnably supported on an armor case through a rotation support part; and an elastic member for urging the paper tray in an optional direction, and has an engagement recession part provided on any one of the paper tray or the armor case; and an engagement projection part provided on the other and engaged with the engagement recession part. The paper tray can be turned to a position where it abutted on a back surface portion of the recording device when engagement for positioning that downward external force acts is released in the state that the paper tray is positioned/retained at a predetermined angle position. Further, when the downward external force is released after the engagement for positioning by the downward external force is released, the paper tray is automatically turned to the predetermined angle position and is engaged with the armor case at the predetermined angle position.
