An air filter unit is for the engine of a power tool such as a saw, with a wall (10) in contact with ambient air. At least one part region of the wall is formed as a sintered body, and filters the ambient air entering the engine. The sintered body comprises several layers (11, 12) of sintered material of different filtration properties.
