An optical pickup actuator enabling a reduction in the thickness of a movable part while suppressing the horizontal dimension of the movable part. The optical pickup actuator comprises the movable part (11) having an objective lens for condensing a laser beam to the recording surface of an optical disk, focus coils (26) disposed in the movable part (11) and driving the movable part (11) in the direction of the recording surface of the optical disk, and tilt coils (27) disposed in the movable part (11) and tilting the movable part (11) relative to the recording surface of the optical disk. The focus coils (26) and the tilt coils (27) form air-core coils (25), and either of the focus coils (26) and the tilt coils (27) are disposed on the inside and the others are disposed on the outside in the air-core coils (25).
