<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus designed such that stabilization control can be exerted even when printing, for example, in a monochrome mode, has been continuing, a stable image can be formed regardless of whether the monochrome mode is switched at any time to a color mode, which differs from the monochrome mode in toner consumption, insufficient supply of color toner, which results from the stabilization control, is prevented, and thus stable image quality is ensured, and to provide a toner supply method. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus that exerts stabilization control includes: a toner forcible supply determination means for determining, based on the history of the stabilization control whether toner forcible supply needs to be exerted or not; and a toner forcible supply means for forcibly supplying toner during the operation of the stabilization control, based on the result of the determination.
