<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply unit that shortens the dead time of an electronic device as much as possible, that is capable of resuming the operation of the electronic device with the minimum replacement of parts required, and that assures safety and reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The power supply unit 110 converts a voltage supplied from a commercial power source to supply electric power to a load. The unit is provided with a current detection circuit 174 that functions as a failure detection means that detects a failure of an output of a power supply circuit 170; a voltage detection circuit 175; a first switching means 121 that switches on and off the power supply to the power supply circuit 170; a second switching means 122 that switches on and off the power supply from the power supply circuit 170 to the load; and a control unit 190 that diagnoses whether it is a failure of the power supply circuit 170 or of the load by the ON/OFF control of the first and second switching means 121, 122, if a failure is detected by the failure detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
