<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus of a simple configuration which reduces the degradation in image quality even during image formation of a job mingled with a borderless print and bordered print, and which has high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus of an electrophotographic system comprising an image carrier, a transfer means, a cleaning means of the transfer means, and a border/borderless switching set means for setting the outputting of the bordered print and the borderless print; the cleaning means comprises an electric field applying means of causing the transition of the toner adhering to the transfer means to the image carrier by the electric field, and a blade for removing the toner adhering to the transfer means, and also comprises a control means to bring the blade into abutment on the transfer means to enable removal of the toner adhering to the transfer means when the borderless print is set by the border/borderless switching set means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
