PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize NAT-transcended processing corresponding to the NAT environments of a user's device and a partner's device with suitable timing when a user makes communications with a partner's device by the use of his own device through a wide area network. SOLUTION: An IP communication device is equipped with an information exchanging means through which a user exchanges information as to the mutual NAT environment with a partner's device through his own device, a NAT control means which carries out NAT-transcendent processing only when it is judged on the basis of information as to the NAT environment of his own device and the partner's device that NAT-transcendet processing is necessary, and a data communication means for enabling a user to exchange multimedia data with the partner's device after a connection is established between the user and the partner.
