PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a projector whose manufacture cost is restrained to be low by providing a supporting means at a necessary spot when the projector is turned upside down and placed on furniture or a shelf positioned high, and which prevents the troublesomeness in the operation of the supporting means and the loss of the supporting means, because the supporting means need not be detached and replaced when switching a placing method. SOLUTION: The projector equipped with an outside case 2 in which a projection optical system is housed is provided with the supporting means 5 at the rear part of the upper surface part 2c of the outside case 2 and the front part of the lower surface part 2d thereof respectively.
