PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical measuring instrument for sensitively measuring information on particles in a liquid. SOLUTION: This optical measuring instrument is equipped with: a light source 16; an electric source 15; a cell 10; a diffraction grating-cum-electrode 11 formed at a position adjoining a liquid specimen in a cell 11 for producing a basic diffracted light pattern by being illuminated with light from the light source 16; a voltage impression part 21 for changing particle distribution by impressing a voltage on the grating-cum-electrode 11 to produce a new derivative diffracted light pattern at an angular position different from that of the basic diffracted light pattern; a light detector group 25 for severally detecting derivative diffracted light of respective orders included in the derivative diffracted light pattern; and a derivative diffracted light signal processing part 31 for collecting respective signals of the derivative diffracted light simultaneously detected by the detector group 25. The processing part 31 measures information on the particles based on the sum of the plurality of substantially simultaneously collected signals of the derived diffracted light.
