PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press machine, wherein foreign matters which are present between a striper, a material to be worked and a die are securely detected and pressing motion can be stopped as soon as the foreign matter is detected. SOLUTION: The press machine 1 in which the material W to be worked is clamped to the die 20 with a stripper 3 and the clamped material W to be worked is pressed by the pressing motion of an upper die part 2 and a lower die part 4, is provided with a detection device 30 provided in the upper die part 2 and a part to be contacted 32 which is provided on the stripper 3 and generates electrical continuity by being brought into contact with the detection device 30 by the foreign matters M which are present between the stripper 3, the die 20, or the material W to be worked when the stripper 3 is relatively moved to the upper die part 2.
