PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contaminant removing method for efficiently removing a contaminant from a contaminated article without applying load to environment, and a contaminant removing apparatus for executing the method. SOLUTION: The contaminant removing apparatus is equipped with a steam producing means 10 for producing dry steam, which has steam density lower than that of saturated steam, from water, a reactor 20 housing the contaminated article to remove the contaminant from the contaminated article and a steam sending means 30 for sending the dry steam into the reactor 20.
