A hood latch system for a vehicle is provided to more conveniently perform second opening of a hood by operating a hook lever in a simple way. A hood latch system for a vehicle comprises a hood striker(14) hooked onto a hook latch by primary opening and releases engagement between the hook latch and the hook striker by second opening. The hood latch system further comprises a front pulling hook release unit(100) that releases engagement between the hook latch and the hook striker by pivoting the hook latch when secondly opening the hood. The front pulling hook release unit comprises a base plate(110) and a handle unit(130). The base plate has a hole positioned corresponding to the hook latch, and a bracket protruded on a back side thereof corresponding to the hole. The handle unit is mounted to the hole of the base plate to pivot the hook latch by being pulled. The handle unit includes a cone member, a handle, and a spring.
