<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent off-track writing due to oscillation of a head. <P>SOLUTION: In writing processing, a hard disk drive (HDD) determines whether user data can be written to a magnetic disk by using user data-reading signals in addition to servo data. By this, the oscillation of a head which can not accurately be detected with the servo data is detected, and off-track writing is prevented. Particularly, the HDD acquires the reading-back signal amplitude of a reading element 121 corresponding to a user data sector 212 in adjoining servo data 211 when it accesses and writes, detects an oscillation from the maximum value MAX and minimum value MIN of the amplitude, and determines whether data writing can be made or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
