PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which consumption of memory is reduced. SOLUTION: A block dividing section 30 distributes predetermined number of pixels of image data outputted from a shading correcting section 20 in the order of raster scan to respective output places thus dividing a sheet of image data into right division image data GR and left division image data GL. A filtering section 40 filters the left division image data GL outputted from the block dividing section 30 and writes the filtered left division image data GL in a second memory section 90, and then reads out the right division image data GR from a first memory section 60 and filters the right division image data GR to output it to a block matching section 110. The block matching section 110 arranges first lines of the right division image data GR and left division image data GL before outputting them to a JPEG compressing section 120.
