PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily prevent trouble occurrence when a moving body is stopped in a standby area even when an apparatus is made compact by making the standby area narrow along the core of a screw shaft and even when a cleaning time is shortened by making the moving speed of the moving body fast. SOLUTION: The moving body equipped with a cleaning member for a discharge wire is supported to freely reciprocate along the discharge wire, the screw shaft 9 provided to an outer peripheral part of a spiral groove 13 is supported rotatably along the discharge wire, and the moving body is engaged with the spiral groove to be moved from the standby area 14 on the side of a screw shaft end along the discharge wire by driving and rotating the screw shaft, thereby cleaning the discharge wire with the cleaning member. This charging device is characterized in that the pitch Pa of the spiral groove on the side of the screw shaft end is made smaller than the pitch Pb at a screw shaft intermediate part.
