PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor output control method and its output control device capable of avoiding reactor emergency shutdown by preventing sudden decline of a reactor water level, even when a water feed pump is tripped in the reactor. SOLUTION: This device has: a recirculation pump 4 for feeding a coolant to the core 5 of the reactor; a control rod driving device 2 for inserting into/extracting from the core 5, a plurality of control rods 3 to be inserted into the core 5, for controlling the output of the reactor; the water feed pump 10 for feeding water into the reactor; a water feed pump monitoring part 16 for monitoring a water feed rate; a recirculation pump control device 17 for receiving a water feed pump capacity shortage signal output from the water feed pump monitoring part 16, and lowering the flow rate of the recirculation pump 4; and a control rod insertion command part 19 for receiving the water feed pump capacity shortage signal, and inserting the control rods 3 into the core 5 with a time difference.
