PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which prevents dust from sticking again to a secondary filter even if an electric blower is driven, and does not require a special dust collection portion for the secondary filter. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner has a dust removing means to remove dust sticking to a pleated filter, a dust receiving portion 86 provided on a front wall portion 84 defining a filter chamber 181 and receiving dust dropped by the dust removing means between a dust separation portion 52 and the pleated filter. A discharge opening 84K which discharge dust is formed in the front wall portion 84, a blocking lid 450 which blocks the discharge opening 84K is provided, a sweeping member 303 which sweeps out dust to the discharge opening 84K by moving the dust collected in the dust receiving portion 86 is provided. The blocking lid 450 is opened when the sweeping member 303 moves to the position of the discharge opening 84K, and dust swept out by the sweeping member 303 is discharged from the discharge opening 84K and returned to the separation chamber 54 of a dust separation portion 52.
